memories are legacy

I’m a mother, photographer and vintage lover. I live with my husband, son and dog in a mid-century ranch home in Olympia, Washington. I have loved photography since I was a girl, before I ever picked up a camera. My grandfather was a photographer, and every year when he came to visit he took portraits of my brother and I in the same maple tree. Every family trip his camera was in hand. I would spend hours digging through the totes of photographs and film strips in our closet under the stairs, remembering memories, seeing my mom as a young woman at a time before I was born. I loved to get lost in the memories and nostalgia captured. I first took a film class in high school. It has been a hobby of mine through the years, but after I had my son I decided to really dive in and do It full time. My grandfather gave his film camera to me. It’s a goal of mine to have it fixed up this year and carry on bringing that camera on family trips. Filling my house with totes of photos, memories in time that I can come back to. One day I imagine my son looking at photos of me and getting those same feelings. This is what I wish for when I photograph my clients. I hope that the photos I take of you bring you back to the way you felt in that moment, so you can remember the way you were and how it has shaped you into who you are now.

Beyond my love of photography, I have a passion for making my home feel beautiful while keeping to its roots. In my free time I’m probably thrifting vintage furniture, reading, cooking or enjoying the beautiful PNW outdoors. I am a mother first, and as a stay at home mom, photography allows me to spend time with my sweet toddler and still gives me the creative passion that is a deep part of me as a person. Thank you for being here, I hope that we can create something beautiful together.
